Delta Pi

Since being chartered by The Order in 1971, Delta Pi has come a long way.

Not having an alumni base to support them, Delta Pi Chapter fell on hard times in the early 1980’s.  The chapter turned its charter back in to the national headquarters in 1985 when membership dropped to an unsustainable level.

In 1989 a group of students contacted an alumnus of Delta Pi and asked for assistance to re-charter Kappa Alpha at Missouri Southern State College.  Kappa Alpha is now the only fraternity at MSSU to have a chartered Alumni Chapter in support of the undergraduates.

That alumnus contacted other alumni to elicit support for the effort.  The alumni supported the effort and formed the Joplin Area Alumni Chapter for Kappa Alpha Order in the early 90's.  With support from the alumni group, Kappa Alpha Order national office agreed to re-colonize Delta Pi.

In 1991 the Delta Pi Colony prevailed and was awarded their charter to join the two other Greek organizations at MSSC, Sigma Nu & Sigma Pi.  Since that time Sigma Nu has lost its charter and Kappa Sigma recently was awarded a charter.

Delta Pi, meanwhile, has grown to some degree of prominence, winning various awards on campus and nationally.
